Swamp Collective was a multi-media art studio that housed 10 resident artists, while hosting drop ins, classes, and all kind of events. The idea of Swamp Collective came from the need to combine community and art into a physical space. As it started to grow from private-ish studios into twice a week public drop ins, the idea came from wanting to have affordable and low commitment studio- meant to mimic a home studio where you learn as you go.
Swamp had two homes throughout its life- first 888 Kingsway, then later 1739 Venables ST, both ending due to the gentrification of Vancouver’s city.
